College Application Essay

Most, if not all colleges require a college application essay that answers an essay prompt given to you by the school.

AP English 12 Summer Assignment


Above assignment is due on the first day of the 2010-2011 year:

1. Read novel.
2. Complete study guide, annotating page numbers where answer is found.
3. Answer the three essay prompts at the end of the study guide. One page double-spaced is
required for each.
4. Internet research - Cultural, historical, and biographical information of the time period, setting, and author information (1/2 page double-spaced for each). Then, connect The Great Gatsby content to your findings (1/2 page double-spaced for each).
5. Type an abstract of the scholarly essay written by Bryant Mangum.

1. Choose a college application essay prompt from the university of your choice.


2. Outline: Thesis statement, body paragraph ideas, confident concluding statement.


3. Rough Draft: Use outline to compose a working copy of your essay response. This requires


details for body paragraphs to prove your main ideas.
